Character Information
Character Name: Tak
Fandom: Invader Zim
Source: Tak on the Invader Zim Wiki. And also various articles there.

Character History: Oh, where to begin. Perhaps with the part where Tak was a humble Irken smeet? No, that’d be a little too far back. But what you need to know is that Tak dreamed of conquest and glory for the Irken Empire, like most every other Irken her age. In fact, she was about to leave her barracks on Devastis to take the test to become an Irken Elite when another would-be Invader, Zim, blew out the power for her entire half of the planet. She was trapped in the barracks until power was restored and the rubble cleared, while the testing continued on the other half of the planet. By the time she got out, testing was over, and despite her protests the Control Brain refused to allow her to take the test.

She was assigned to a janitorial squad on planet Dirt, an Irken dump planet. She escaped, and spent the next fifty years tracking down Zim. When she found out he’d been sent to Earth, she assumed a disguise of her own and infiltrated the planet herself. Unlike Zim, her arrival went completely unnoticed. She was even able to apprehend and control the president of the Deelishus Weenie corporation as her “father,” using his resources and funding to further her own plan to empty the core of the planet and fill it with snacks as an offering to the Almighty Tallest in order to be made a proper Invader. The plan was eventually discovered by Zim and Dib, and stopped…well, mostly by Gaz and Dib, Zim just made a nuisance of himself in space.

Character Personality: While she’d deny being obsessed with exacting her revenge on Zim, she nonetheless enjoys his suffering. Like, a lot. After all, she views him as the one responsible for her failing to become a member of the Irken Elite (which is true). This grudge hasn’t done much for her compassion, or what little compassion Irkens are capable of possessing to begin with (which isn’t much), and as a result the real Tak is an incredibly cold, very angry person. But hey, who can blame her? She’d been tracking Zim for 50 years, only to be thwarted by his stupid Earth friends. Or Earth nemeses or…whatever. It’s fostered some…bitterness.

Compared to other Invaders, she’s quite competent at her job. Her disguise is holographic rather than centered around basic props, and unlike Zim, she’s capable of blending with and adapting to human culture. She’s also extremely gifted with technology, building not only her own ship, but building her own SIR model (which she named MIMI). Of course, she integrates this sort of technical aptitude into her work as an Invader directly, using technology to grant herself limited mind control abilities as well as a cloaking device.

Despite her hostilities towards Zim, and bitterness at the Control Brain for refusing her request to take the final test to become an Elite, Tak has no hostilities toward the rest of the Irken Empire at all. She is still loyal to the Almighty Tallest. She’ll stop at nothing to become a proper member of the Irken Elite, and she certainly has the skills to do so. And considering her last attempt nearly destroyed the Earth, it’s safe to say she’s a force to be reckoned with and will not hesitate to doom millions to achieve her ends. Then again, that isn’t at all surprising either, considering she’s Irken and regards all other life as either inferior or a potential ally. Though, it’s worth noting that Irken allies are not permanent, no matter how close they might be, so long as they’re organics anyway (the Irken Empire’s previous close allies, the Vortians, are now prisoners of the Irken Empire).

Powers and Abilities:
(Note: All of Tak’s abilities are provided via technology, or a result of her biology in Earth-like atmospheres)

+Heightened Speed / Agility: Likely due to a combination of training, genetic engineering, or both, Tak is quite fast and agile. Like most Irkens though, she is somewhat lacking in raw physical strength, and must instead rely on her speed, agility, and technology to hold her own in a fight against anyone larger than young children.

+Limited Mind Control: Thanks to an implant in her head, Tak possesses limited mind-control abilities. When used, a flash crosses from one eye to the other, and any individual of standard intelligence and/or willpower will be compelled to do as she says. However, it should be noted that this is command-specific: she can’t permanently enslave anyone’s mind, she must issue command after command, and it must be given verbally. Another useful function of the implant is that it allows Tak to wipe memories when necessary. While it’s confirmed this can work in the short term, it’s likely that it can also remove specific information in much the same way. As an obvious precaution in the design, it does not work on other Irkens, which means she also has little to fear about it being reverse engineered if she’s captured.

+Cloaking: She can use the same holographic device that generates her disguise to make herself invisible. It’s worth noting that it’s complete invisibility—no matter how good a person’s eyesight might be, she can’t be seen without some sort of further action (it won’t keep footprints from appearing in sand/snow/mud, won’t keep water from getting displaced, etc.).

+Holographic Disguise: Tak’s disguise is far more advanced than Zim’s, and that of most other Irkens for that matter. She actually looks like an eleven year old human girl. Of course, she also alters the pitch of her voice significantly while in disguise (giving herself a higher pitched, more childish sounding voice), though whether it’s her disguise or a conscious decision on her part that’s responsible isn’t clear.

+PAK: Tak possesses a standard Irken PAK, presumed to have the same functionality as Zim’s. For more information on it, refer to this article.

Network:

[Well, this was just wonderful. As if being beaten by Zim of all people wasn’t bad enough, now she didn’t even appear to be on Earth anymore. Prior reconnaissance had established that. And without her ship or a permanent base of operations, she was without any means of trying to contact the Armada to report recent developments to her Almighty Tallest.

Which meant she had no choice but to accept help from the…ugh, locals. This felt far too much like begging, but she’ll put on the best performance she can…perhaps the image of a little girl stuck in the Western District all by herself might get a few residents to respond faster.]

Is anyone there? Could anyone tell me where I am?

[Oh how she hated having to use that word! But for the sake of staying inconspicuous, she’ll have to make do and stay in character. And there was no way those pathetic Earth children could ever survive on their own here in this reddish-hued technotopia. Wherever it was.]

I’m Tak. I’m new here, and I could really use some help. Can anyone hear me?

Third Person:

It only took Tak a matter of seconds to realize she wasn’t on Earth anymore. While she’d only studied their world and customs for a short time, she was nonetheless quite thorough in doing so. There were the obvious differences, sure: The architecture of the buildings around her definitely wasn’t something the Earthlings made, and the sky wasn’t red. Of course, she’d also noticed that there was only one moon. Her PAK may have been unable to obtain any information about whatever world it was she’d stumbled into, but she knew that whatever it was, it was horribly unfamiliar in more ways than one.

Of course, she couldn’t allow herself to be seen by anyone. Not until she knew what she was dealing with. After all, she didn’t even know what the dominant species on this planet was, she wasn’t about to activate her earthling disguise unless she knew it would go unnoticed. For now, she’d have to stick in the shadows until she knew what she was dealing with. Or what local hazards there were. For now, her first order of business was reconnaissance. The buildings nearby were tall enough that Tak assumed she could easily get a good view of her surroundings from the top, and the immediate area did seem to be deserted enough that scaling the monstrosities should be safe enough.

Four spider-like legs soon jutted out from the pack, immediately doubling Tak’s mobility as she was suspended over two feet above the ground. And the PAK’s legs could move faster than her own, not to mention up surfaces she couldn’t hope to climb without them. With a mighty leap, she was thrown from the deserted streets below to the side of one of the Cybertronian-style towers, and began her ascent. She took deliberate measures to avoid any windows for the time being—as quiet as it may have sounded inside, she wasn’t about to take chances just yet. She had to figure out where she’d been sent first. But when Tak managed to reach the top, she had some trouble making sense of what she saw.

She could see beyond the Western District, and the buildings beyond were quite different. Familiar looking, even; at least in terms of their design. The buildings in the central district resembled those of Earth. This was a confusing development, to say the least. Feeling secure enough on the rooftops, she decided it might be best to try to once again establish communications with…well, anyone. Under most circumstances her personal comm wasn’t nearly strong enough to reach the Armada, but at this point she was out of options. Tak did take basic precautions of course, she wasn’t an idiot—her broadcast would be sent with standard Irken encryption in place, over Irken channels. She doubted the Tallest would be able to receive her signal, but with luck, perhaps there was another Invader within range.

At first, all she could see was static. She was debating trying a new frequency when a video transmission opened without her authorization. She didn’t recognize the boy on screen, but he seemed human enough. Well, as far as she could tell anyway. She had no idea what an “Angelii” was, or “bending,” but…well, eavesdropping was an expected skill of the Irken Elite. And since it appeared that this “Angelii” human wasn’t able to see or hear her, well…she really had no reason not to listen, did she? And he’d been ever so helpful already, whether he knew it or not. After all, he looked human enough, that meant Tak wouldn’t have to find a new disguise after all.
